Since I wasn't able to enjoy the first opening day in Detroit, we decided to recreate it in the day game on Thursday. We picked up Feras down at Harbortown. Since he was late, he decided to take a stroll around his neighborhood. There is a very old area called Indian Village that has some beautiful mansions that are very much still in tact. There is also another area that is right around it called the Heidelberg project. I'll be writing about that in a separate blog. I attached some pictures of Indian Village and sneak preview of the Heidelberg.
After picking up Feras, we went for breakfast in an area called Eastern Market. Eastern Market is an area were most of the fresh produce and meat comes into Detroit. Heck, they even have fresh livestock there. This is also a good place for some breakfast grub. That is why we landed here. We went to the Farmers Market Diner and had some delicious food before we headed down to the game.
After breakfast, we headed down to Comerica Park and went to the Town Pump for some spirits. We ended up seeing some of my college buddies and harassed them for a little bit. After that, we met some of Kevin's friends at Cheli's Chili bar. Cheli's is right by the Comerica Park entrance. It's a bar/restaurant. It also has a roof top where, if you so choose, can watch the game. It has some bleachers set up on the roof, similar to the rooftops near Wrigley. We headed to the game around 2 since there was a rain delay and went to our Standing Room Only seats.
This game went even worse than the game before. The Tigers got rocked, so we didn't stay the whole game and went to 5th avenue Bar which is attached to Comerica Park. Stu met us there and we had some Red Bull Vodka. I had to drink what my shirt said! We headed back to the Town Pump and ran into some of my past. That seems to be the theme for the week...
The night ended at Fishbone's near my brother's house. It was a long, long day.
