Isaac Newton's dark side

Did anybody know that Isaac Newton was an alchemist? I happened to watch this biography on Newton which talked about his many accomplishments including inventing calculus, determining that our solar system rotates in an elliptical motion rather than a circle, and the theory of motion. But he had some other interesting pieces of his life. His father died at an early age and his mom remarried and left their estate and poor Isaac with his grandparents. Scandalous! While he was Catholic, he did not believe in the Trinity, but he did believe in Jesus. He felt that God was the only powerful being. He also calculated the second coming of Jesus based on the book of Revelations, through mathematical calculations, 2060. Perhaps this all led him to alchemy, a science that believe that there was an element called the Philospher's Stone, which could basically turn anything into gold.
